World Juniors & Cadets Fencing Championship in Belek (Turkey)

As I talked about in a previous post, last week the World Juniors & Cadets Fencing Championship took place in Belek (Turkey) last week. Two of our friends were competing. Juli and Cheve were members of the Spanish foil junior team, but their performance wasn't as great as we expected. Julián "Juli" Montero finished in 55th position, while Álvaro "Cheve" Echevarría finished in 84th position. The medals were won by the Italians Martino Minuto (gold medal) and Valerio Aspromonte (one of the bronze medals) and Korean Yong Tae Im (silver) and Ukrainian Georgiy Lopatenko (the other bronze). The Spanish team came back to Madrid with just one gold medal, the one won by Pau Rosello in cadet masculine épée. With those results, the Nations Cup is led by the Italians, followed by the Frenches and Ukrainians. Spain is in 15th position.
