After seeing in the comments the huge discusion going on about the Pig, and its Rights, I had the idea of looking for "refranes" (Spanish proverbs) that talk about the Pig:
1) "En el cerdo y la mujer, acertar que no escoger"
Translation: When thinking about a pig and a wife, it is better getting the right one than choosing
Meaning: Pigs and wives are so important that when someone looks for one, it is better getting the right one than getting the one that looks to be the right one
2) "No hay pescado como el cerdo"
Translation: There is no fish like a pork
Meaning: Maybe the first person that said so didnt like fish? Help me with this one from Spain!
3) "del cerdo , hasta los andares"
Transaltion: From the pig, even the way it walks
Meaning: in Spain we love the pig: jamon, chorizo, meat... and even the way it walks
4) "las mejores inyecciones, los chorizos y los jamones"
Translation: The best injections, chorizos and jamones
Meaning: There is no medicine like chorizos and jamones
5) "El cerdo no sueña con rosas, sino con bellotas."
Translation: The pig doesnt dream of roses, he dreams of acorns
Meaning: dont know... does it mean that they dont need lots of things to be happy?
6) "Huerta sin cerdo, no tiene dueño"
Translation: An irrigated area used for cultivation without a pig, it doesnt have an owner
Meaning: ???
As you can see, in Spain pigs are as important as wifes, they can take away illnesses, they are always happy and we love even they way they move. WE LOVE PIGS!

he loves pigs and yet he brings us no jamon serrano for our tapas party. i have 2kilos of queso manchego and no jamon serrano. any suggestions for more tapas? last time i made croquetas it was a disaster... maybe we'll just have to buy prosciutto...i think italians have better ham anyway...

no comments at all... sobre gustos no hay nada escrito (about tastes, nothing is written), but I fell free to say our JAMON is the one and only. Do you want any tapas recipe? Xevi should know some, if not... I could send u some.
I'd like to help with ideas for tapas but I'm only good at eating them! Sorry! I promiss to snedout some jamón serrano. I think this whole thing about spanish pigs has gone way too far. I have always lived with 2 at home and haven't made such a fuss about it! ;)
Xevi, maybe you should give up the idea of becoming an engineer! I still can't understand why the MOMA hasn't had an exposition with your pictures yet. Just kidding! I can't wait to be there again. Seems like you guys didn't waste your time!
